What are essential oils?
Essential oils are naturally occurring, aromatic compounds that are found in seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers and other parts of plants. When these oils are extracted, they can be used by themselves or blended with other oils to increase emotional and physical wellness. When oils are extracted properly without additives they have the unique ability to benefit people in all areas of life, including pregnancy and birth.
How can I use essential oils?
- Aromatic: This is the process of diffusing essential oils into the air.
- Internal: This is the process of using oils through ingesting them either in baking and/or cooking or in the form of a supplement. They can even be used to enhance the flavour of certain beverages.
- Topically: This is the process of using oils topically and allowing them to absorb into your skin. When using oils topically they are best used when mixing them with a carrier oil.
